Awards at ITB Berlin
Awards and prizes from a variety of competitions are presented within the framework of ITB Berlin – for outstanding scientific, artistic or sustainable achievements in many different areas. You can find an overview here - for additional information, please go to our partners’ websites.
Destinations are key players in enforcing sustainability in tourism, but their efforts were hardly recognized.
This is now changing. ITB provides its prime auditorium to an award scheme exclusively dedicated to destinations: the Sustainable Destinations Top 100 Awards.
In 2000 the Cologne Business School awarded the Best Exhibitor Awards for the first time to the Top 3 exhibitors of ITB Berlin in several categories. Since then BEA is a quality indicator for an attractive trade show appearance. In 2014, the award ceremony was held at the “Palais am Funkturm” again.
An international award by the International Institute for Peace in Tourism (IIPT) India, supported by ITB Berlin to honor women who have played an extraordinary role in developing sustainable tourism. It took place for the 1st time at ITB Berlin 2016.
The ITB Berlin BookAwards are awarded since 2002 for outstanding published works and achievements in the field of travel and tourism. The management of ITB Berlin also awards special prizes. The main focus lays on awards, which are dedicated to a selected travel destination or country. Other award categories vary and reflect on current issues, trends and innovations.
ITB LGBT Pioneer Award
ITB wants to support and honor the global engagement of destinations, tourism providers or outstanding personalities in the LGBT travel segment with the “ITB LGBT Pioneer Award”.
The price will be awarded yearly, for the 1st time at ITB Berlin 2018.
International contest since 1995. The prize is awarded for tourism related projects which respect the interests of the local population during planning and implementation. Additionally, the TO DO Award Human Rights in Tourism is awarded for the second time, under the patronage of the German Commission for UNESCO.
