Dr. Aris Ikkos

Aris is Research Director at Institute SETE (INSETE). INSETE is the research institute of the Confederation of Greek Tourism (SETE). At INSETE he is responsible developing SETE Intelligence, a business intelligence unit for Greek tourism as well as for managing research projects with a view to:

  • preparing policy plans for tourism development in a sustainable way
  • improving accuracy of forecasting of its variables;
  • improving the quality of Greek tourism;
  • addressing manpower and training issues in tourism.

He also participates in tripartite (state-employers-employees) committees on various issues and advises SETE (Greek Tourism Confederation) about policy issues.

Aris is involved in Greek and Cypriot tourism since the 80s. His experience includes Tourism Planning at a Regional and National Level as well as all types of tourism investment: hotels, resorts, marinas, conference centres, casinos, spas, theme parks etc.

Since 2005, he is the only Greek member of the by-invitation-only International Society of Hospitality Consultants. He has also been a member of the Academy of Experts, a body with a dual function as an Accrediting Body that aims to safeguard high standards for Court Experts during the execution of their duties and a Professional Body promoting these high standards.

INSETE is a non-profit organization founded in early 2013, on the initiative of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), to contribute with well-substantiated ideas for promoting both public and private policies that will support, modernize and improve the Greek tourism sector and any other service sector which is directly or indirectly associated with it. The Institute contributes effectively in documenting the significance of tourism for the Greek economy and society, and boosts the knowledge and skills of its human resources, while supporting a qualitative improvement of the sector.
