Jessica de Bloom was born in Germany in 1983. After studying health psychology and work- and organizational psychology at the University of Twente (Netherlands), she worked as an intern in Curaçao (Dutch Antilles) and as an HR-manager in management consultancy in Germany.
In 2007, a research project at the Radboud University Nijmegen made the globetrotter return to the Netherlands. In the beginning of 2012, she finished her dissertation on the effects of vacation on workers’ health and well-being.
During her subsequent stay in New Zealand, she wrote her popular science book "De kunst van het vakantievieren". In this practical guide she presents tips for vacationers to increase the benefits of their holiday, based on her scientific findings.
Currently, Mrs de Bloom works on a research project on "Recovery from work during breaks, evening hours, weekends and during holidays" at the University of Tampere in Finland.
